About HIAS
The Hellenic Institute of Advanced Studies (HIAS) was created on the premise that scientists of the Hellenic diaspora, are a potent resource that can be harnessed for the benefit of the Greek society.
HIAS is fueled by the desire (or χρεος) of its members to avail their science and technology expertise for addressing scientific and societal challenges in their homeland.
Most HIAS members received their education in Greece, and are now conducting their work in world leading Universities and research centers. They are members of leading international academies, recipients of distinguished international awards and have significant research, teaching and administrative expertise.
HIAS is founded on scientific excellence, is inclusive, and represents the strengths of the entire Hellenic scientific community independent of any personal or political affiliation.
HIAS aims to harness the strengths of the Hellenic diaspora can be effectively harnessed and help support Greek society to address the challenges of our times through science.
